Buddy “the Doctor” Wiegelman is the owner of our great establishment. A professional rock star, Buddy has performed with many great musicians, and his bands have toured with Rush, The Scorpions, and John Mellencamp. He is a professional musician, playing music in and around the Chicagoland area for more than 40 years. Buddy opened Dr Woods Guitar Emporium more than 20 years ago, wanting to share his love of music with others in the community.

Dr. Woods Guitar Emporium has been in Fox River Grove since 1993. Over the years the store has become an integral part of the local community, acting as the main provider of music lessons and instrument repairs, rentals and sales to students in Fox River Grove, Cary, Barrington, Crystal Lake and beyond! As a central meeting place for musicians of all ages, the Emporium has seen it’s share of touring and professional musicians, in the form of teachers as well as students. Dr. Woods students have gone on to tour different countries, record their own albums, play professionally in the studio and play gigs locally around Chicago.

Additionally, though, the quality of the repair work is top notch. My 3-year-old somehow got his mitts on my vintage (1950’s) Gibson acoustic and cracked the headstock. After shedding a couple tears and overcoming the embarrassment of leaving it unattended with a 3-year-old in the house, we took it to Buddy & crew. They fixed it up better than I thought possible, both aesthetically and functionally. Sounds the same, feels the same, plays the same. We drive up from about 30 minutes away in Schaumburg and would not go anywhere else. Thanks guys!”
